We have seen is coming for the last 10 years. China is now building its 4th aircraft Carrier. In my opinion, they want to confront or spoil a counter-attack by the United States by placing 4 aircraft carriers as a screen to keep us out while Taiwan uses its 800 javelin missiles and its older M-60 A3 tanks and other weaponry to stall the people's Republic of China's forces on the beach and in the interior while we mobilize and hopefully come to their aid. If we do not, we will let Taiwan go down in history to defeat. At the end of WW2, Mainland China was Nationalist and its military was strong from US advisors training whole Chinese Nationalist Divisions in preparation to defeat the Japanese. After the war ended, The Nationalist Armies were slowly defeated by the Communists and Former General/Secretary George Marshall hated Chang Kai Shek and he did not support the Nationalists with additional arms and ammunition while Russia was giving captured Japanese weapons and ammunition to Mao Tse Tung's Army causing the Nationalists to retreat to Taiwan by 1949.

In my book, climate change is not the biggest fear but the invasion of Taiwan which will result in climate change of 20 years of global cooling if we have a limited nuclear war. National Geographic published a story 11 years ago on this exact subject discussing how the climate would be cooled by a limited nuclear war between India and China. I have been commenting for 2 years here to forget about climate change, it will come to bite us in the behind if we get into a limited nuclear war. Taiwan also bought new F-16s and as many torpedoes they could get their hands on from Foreign Military Sales.

We had a Defense Treaty with Taiwan that expired in 1980. The PRC just took back Hong Kong, I think they will be emboldened by our internal strife from the moment George Floyd died and the cities surrendered to the leftist protests/riots and now the strife from the insurrection of the fringe right group on the Capitol. The impeachment of Former POTUS Trump may be on your minds but remember that China likes our infighting. I hope President Biden sends a show of force like past Presidents have done. Remember, North Vietnam invaded South Vietnam during the tenure of the weak Ford Administration recovering from the Watergate scandal and POTUS Nixon's resignation. My Social Worker Mother spent 3 weeks at Camp Pendleton helping resettle refugees after the fall of Saigon. We do not want a President Obama Faux line in the Sand. We will also find out if Tony Bobulinksi was right. 108 Abrams M1A2 tanks are on order but it will be about 17-25 tanks a year to Taiwan. Hopefully, POTUS does not interfere with the FMS.

Hung out to dry...the excuse will be Viet Nam and Afghanistan, regardless of what real negative consequences for us could easily be.

I wouldn't suggest buying any property or even planning a trip to the area.
"The big man" (to quote his son) is beholden to the CCP. I would be greatly surprised to see him stand up against them, as they likely have too much dirt on him. What should be happening is the whole world should be holding them accountable for the CCP Wuhan virus they unleashed, whether deliberately or through incompetent lax security as we know they had at that facility. Why are they even dealing with manipulations to create new viruses so they can develop a cure, when we do not allow that kind of experimentation - for the very reason of what has happened? Personally, I think they would like to have biological warfare components to which they have protected their own army against. An ill enemy is much easier to defeat than a healthy one.

I served on a destroyer that was routinely assigned to Taiwan Patrol. While we were there essentially as a trip wire...what could one ship with only guns do against a force bent on invasion...the duty was a relief after serving the Market Time patrol and gunfire support off Vietnam. Our primary port was a small commercial one on the northern end of the island. We got our share of Serious Warning Number —- but never an encounter.

We grew fond of locals but noticed that the country was on a constant wartime footing. Anti Aircraft emplacements were visibly manned 24 hrs a day. Of note, nobody would discuss any opinion of Chang Kai Shek. The govt was a dictatorship with benevolent overtones and very friendly to US Forces.

This last year we saw two cruisers take up patrol duties for brief periods to show the flag. If there ever was a time to stay the course, it’s now.

China is well known for playing the long game and for testing by pushing then withdrawing just a little and outlasting Western interests. That the Japanese invasion leading to WWII was well armed by adopting and adapting Western technology and trained by the West is not lost on China. Since WWII, what she will expend in terms of manpower and resources hasn’t been matched. Technically she hasn’t lost to the West anytime recently. Korea and Vietnam are two examples.

One must not forget that China as a naval force now is just starting its seaward push after having a navy that would have easily crushed any Western force of the 1800s, but that was a Navy of the 1500s and was abandoned as China didn’t see a need to expand into the Pacific.

China of today is well aware of the West’s previous history in her territory. It was not kind. China was already a formidable empire when Columbus sailed in three tiny ships, and China paid dearly when the West finally got access and established colonies through brutal methods. Like Russia, China is well aware of her previous glories. Why wouldn’t she seek to push us back?

Lest anyone read the foregoing wrongly, I’m not a fan of China’s government and its efforts to subjugate others nor its movements into others’ territories. Rather, it’s just one guys take and an invitation for considerations of the history lest some continue to think of China as lesser and without cause to respond to the West.

Americans have been hypnotized by overt expressions of “token" expressions of military force. Iraq and Afghanistan never threatened our military force. Will China? I bet yes. Will Russia my answer again is yes! At some point the Chinese will in the straights, and the Russian will in the Black Sea. They will confront our US Navy NATO force just like the Chinese recently did on the Indian border. When this happens will the US act as the Indian Army leadership did? To me this is a good question to ask ourselves.

I doubt it. The Bidens have too much invested in China.

I agree, I just put this up for situational awareness and putting pressure on the administration by letting rank and file know how we have a moral obligation to Taiwan.

This is probably what prompted the PM of Japan to show up at the White House for a meeting with Biden and Harris carrying a Trump 2024 sign.

I would hope that we would but I'm afraid that the current administration would more likely try to talk the communists off the beaches. Beijing knows this and is preparing to invade. The carriers and the Amphibs. that they are building all point to the same objective an invasion and reoccupation of Taiwan. If the US does not defend this free and democratic country all of our far eastern allies will stat to rethink their place in the world vis a vis the United States (The Paper Tiger)

In light of the Biden family's financial connections to the PLA and Beijing as well as Ms. Pelosi's protection of Eric Swalwell despite his being compromised by the communists I doubt that we will respond quickly or decisively enough to save Taiwan.

Sad, but this is the way it is. Thank you to all my fellow Americans who voted to bring this upon us. When I say thank you, it's because I can't use the other expression with *** you in it.
