With the recent amount of stolen valor it is hard to keep up with all the different threads being posted here on RallyPoint. From this point forward if you have a stolen valor question, comment, and or post, then add it here. The posts that currently exist will stay, as we don't want to lose the already existing discussion content. If you have started a stolen valor post prior to this and wish to have it merged to this one then feel free to let me know and I will merge that for you. The initial post will be gone but the discussion content will be merged to this posting.

All I can say is you are some kind of ass to do that to a family. We really need to have better laws and punishment for these clowns.

I agree, it breaks my heart to read discussions on here about a vet not being able to get much needed 100% disability, but fakers can waltz their way into the system.

That's what pissed me off the most. I am a Gold Star husband, and an Ambassador with the American Widow Project. I am also a Chaplain with the local American Legion Riders, but I'm afraid I wouldn't be acting very Christian right now if I was alone in a room with him.

What really amazes me is that with all the calling out of these fake soldiers that they never bother to pick up a copy of the soldier's/officer's guide or even bother to visit one of the rack building sites.

Of course, even then these idiots would still give themselves away with things that SSG James Palmer IV pointed out like the toothpick and sunglasses.

SPC Jeff Daley, PhD, absolutely agree. During the early 90s (Desert Shield/Storm), there was a concerted PR campaign by many to ensure that service members weren't treated like many in the country did publicly during the 60s. Supporting the troops became the 'thing' to do and you were outcast if you did attacks on the men and women in uniform (protests against the policy, conflict, leadership was ok ... just don't disparage the troops). The sentiment has waxed and waned a bit in the last 20+ years, but aside from a few fringe elements (*cough* *cough* Westboro *cough* *cough*), it still remains.

On one hand, many of these people are to be pitied. They obviously have something missing in their mental makeup where the crave some sort of acknowledgement, positive affirmation, or such. On the other hand, as a group, they are to be despised because they are using the sacrifices of others to boost their own egos. As you can correctly predict, overwhelmingly the majority of military related individuals use the other hand (while restraining themselves from physically using that hand....)

Yeah, the sun glasses say it all. I have never met any SNCO that does anything less than go bat shit crazy when someone has their sun glasses on the of their head like that. Without even looking at the uniform the glasses are a dead give away LOL!

Please, God in heaven, grant me fifteen minutes with this individual. I have longed for the good old days of NCO justice and this presents a perfect opportunity.

My bet:
This guy was in the military, and washed out of Basic Training after one month or less.
I further hypothesize that he was signed up to be in an MOS as far away from 18X as you can imagine.
He got the gig in a convenience store due to his prior connection as an employee.
He is wondering if his Marine Corps Veteran hat and free Doritos will make up the cost of his badge and patch purchases.

Upon further research, it appears that I nailed the basic training wash out prediction (Fort Jackson, 1998 after one month). No further word yet on my other predictions, but since Ft Jackson is where most of the support MOSs go for BCT, I'm feeling pretty good about that theory as well.
He currently works for a pizza joint named Plumber's Pizza.
Speaking of joints, he claims that the only thing he learned in High School was how to roll one.
It gets better. He is standing behind a counter because he has his own "non-profit" that raises money to house homeless female veterans. He took down the original facebook page for his charity and now calls it - get this - The NOGO site!
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
If you wish for further comedy relief, visit his facebook page. Full name is William J. Westbay.

hahahahahahahhahahaahahhaaha!!
That reminds me of this joke. Little long but totally worth it...

Little Melissa comes home from first grade and tells her father that they learned about the history of Valentine's Day.

"Since Valentine's Day is for a Christian saint and we're Jewish," she asks, "will God get mad at me for giving someone a valentine?"

Melissa's father thinks a bit, then says, "No, I don't think God would get mad. Who do you want to give a valentine to?"

"Osama Bin Laden," she says.

"Why Osama Bin Laden?" her father asks in shock.

"Well," she says, "I thought that if a little American Jewish girl could have enough love to give Osama a valentine, he might start to think that maybe we're not all bad, and maybe start loving people a little bit. And if other kids saw what I did and sent valentines to Osama, he'd love everyone a lot. And then he'd start going all over the place to tell everyone how much he loved them and how he didn't hate anyone anymore."

Her father's heart swells and he looks at his daughter with pride. "Melissa, that's the most wonderful thing I've ever heard."

"I know," Melissa says, "and once that gets him out in the open, the Marines could blow the crap out of him."

Saw a guy at a bar the other day telling war stories, pretending he had a "Combat Administrator Badge" and an "Expert Field Unit Administrator" badge. He was telling the others at the bar his war story "there we were, out of donuts and coffee, PT forms were due to headquarters in two days, the forms were un-alphabetized, and the copy machine jammed". I approached him and told him "You're a poser! Everyone knows that there's never a shortage of junk food, and green beans never closes! A real admin can alphabetize 200 forms in 10 minutes flat, and other units would let you use their copy machines!" I then ripped the poorly sewn-on EFUA badge off his VFW hat.

You know, this is a sore point for so many of us, and the Women Marine groups are no different.
I ran into one who states she wants to be called 'Top' , says she spent 11 years on the drill field, three tours in the Sandbox, came home with all sorts of internal problems and posted a picture on Facebook with LOADS of ribbons, not in their right order, mind you, and she supposedly did all this in about 14 years.
Now, the idea she was able to get to SSGT in two enlistments is do-able, though pretty dang hard in the Corps due to slots available and promotions in those fields... anyway, the thing is, she just 'smelled' wrong, and every WM in the group noticed it, when she was unable to name any DI she served with, during those 11 years, and we asked her to prove her service, as we all had to do to join the group, and suddenly, she was gone.
It just outrages me, that so many who refused or ignored the chance to serve their country, are jumping in, saying that they were higher NCO's, that they were Navy Seals, or Recon... never just a common truck driver or 'Remington Raider" mind you... What is it about these jerks that they think we won't recognize a fake?
Anyway, end result is that we turned her in for Stolen Valor, but odds are, she's using a fake name as well... but she goes by "Julee Jones" if you run into her, and she says she's a part of the Patriot Guard as well...

I know plenty of sailors who make E-5 in two years. I'm on course to make E-5 after about two years of service.

Great question but how do you know the person is a "poser" at first glance or contact other than some obviously dunderhead mistakes with ribbons & insignia, claiming everything they did was classified or looking the wrong age for where they supposedly served? There's so much data out there that someone could easily build a descent false resume. I know some soldiers have that good "Scooby Sense" to sniff out a poser but not all of us.

I wouldn't waste my time correcting the individual, because no matter where you go there will be yard birds impersonating Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines. Most people like that was rejected by the U.S. Armed Forces for whatever reason, and they just living in a fantasy world and most of them get stuck.

MSG Floyd Williams As I have been told multiple times by SNCOs: When you don't make the correction, you create a new standard. If we simply let these people be to say and do whatever, then we create the perception that we don't mind or care.
