I'm not sure how accurate Hollywood will make this movie but it is based on a true story. This looks like a great movie about courage and survival in the face of unimaginable odds.

*********SPOILER ALERT.....DO NOT READ if you didn't read the book!!!*************
CW5 (Join to see) apparently there is a huge uproar over portrayals of cannibalism being "common." Did the book go into great detail or just mention an individual incident?

I've heard the book is really good. While I LOVE to read, I started to listen more to audio books last year. Just bought "Unbroken" through Audible, which is an awesome app. In the middle of a couple other books but will get to it soon.

Book was excellent. Movie stayed fairly true to it. Zamperini was an interesting study and even exposed his warts

My poor wife (Japanese) really wanted to see this movie with me, but fears retribution from the crowd. With all the Ferguson and now NY rioting, it is easy to see her concerns. They released the movie already in Japan and as expected, it is not being received very well. I find myself walking on eggshells.

Is it not received well by the Japanese or by the Americans? We cant forget our past good or bad with out it our bad history will repeat itself.

PO2 Corey Ferretti Japanese. I keep explaining that it isn't a hate movie. It is a triumph of the human spirit movie.

Yeah i could see why they would be upset with it. Like if the Japanese made a movie that showed the USA putting Japanese Americans in to camps at the start of WW2 from the family view. I am sure we would take it hard. When i saw the preview i did not see it as a movie that showed hatred towards the Japanese i saw it showing a the struggle and perseverance of an american. I hope she goes and see the movie.
