What film best captures what being in the military is truly like?

The Boys of Company C. Really goofy things happen at times.

There was a movie a while back called “The Beast” and was about a Soviet tank crew during the Afghanistan occupation. I think it did a good job portraying what it was like then.

Full Metal Jacket. Although the drill sergeants didn’t hit us, Drill Sergeant Hartman’s sarcasms and treatment of the troops was what I went through in basic training.

I've always been a fan of military/war movies. They all seem to have some accuracy and each reminds me of some aspect of my time in uniform. To pick a favorite would be to diminish the others.

As a sailor, movies "Mister Roberts", "Their Finest Hours", and "The Boatniks" shows how normal life at sea is like.

A film about what being in the military is really like would be impossibly boring.
