I have a personal motto. It was taught to me by my Grandfather and reinforced by my father. It's very simple. "Loyalty above all else, except honor."

Basically, Stay true to your friends, but not at the expense of staying true to your self.

"A is A." This is the statement used to illustrate the Law of Identity. The concept of identity is important because it makes explicit that reality has a definite nature. Since reality has an identity, it is knowable. Since it exists in a particular way, it has no contradictions. It helps me to make sense of the apparently senseless.

This is more motivational things and will be edited some as I can remember them.
PUSH, Persist Until Something Happens.
You are the one who has to deal with yourself each day it is you who should be happy with yourself, not with what others think.<--That is geared towards the people who say you can`t -do/be something sucsessful- because in actuality it is a reflection of their life. Another way to put it, A persons perception of the world is a reflection of what is on his\her heart.

I understand people can be happy with sub par performance. To put it into my intended perspective here is where I got it from originally. I have a folder dedicated to motivational quotes and pictures so maybe I can use them to motivate others. However my computer is a a gaggled up labyrinth.

Here are some of mine....

* " God is good, God is great...He has a purpose and plan for all of us."

* "Do unto others as you want done unto you."

* "If I'm going to take the time to do something, then do it right; otherwise don't waste you time doing it."

* "Respect others in order to be respected back."

* "Have a positive attitude, everything happens for a reason."

Motto: Illigitimi noncarborundum (don't let the bastards wear you down)

Saying: Everybody has a purpose in life. For some people it's being a bad example. (Coe's corollary to Murphy's Law)

"Don't ask permission, just seek forgiveness" I sought many times for forgiveness. Seems at times to be the only way to get things done. Thanks for posting.

"Don't overthink the problem"

Every problem can be overcome. Most people "Rube Goldberg" the issue. I aim "Stop the bleeding, start the breathing."

"Don't overthink the problem" could this also coincide with Nike's "Just do it". Just wondering.

SSG Adam Reed not at all. I was a young Cpl, and we're in the field CoC doing something. One of the lights (stupid light bars) wasn't working correctly. Flickering, and just being a general nuisance. I hop up on a chair, and swap it with the one on the other side, which was closest to the entrance. Once I hop down, the XO just looks at me, and asks why I did that.

"Sir, I can spend 5 minutes getting us a fix most folks will be happy with, or I can spend 15 minutes running up to the anthill (comms), and have them come down here to look at it, and maybe they can fix it. This way we have a fix now, and the next time a comm guy comes in, I'll tell them we have a busted light."

He guffaws, and says "You sure don't overthink problems do you?"

SSG Adam Reed Nah, he was an awesome XO. I think he was genuinely curious as to what my thought process was. All he saw was this young Cpl stop, hop up swap two light bulbs which really didn't do anything, other than put the flickering on the other side of the room (the side without the maps).

So I am running for the local school board. I'm making a few social sites to promote my candidacy. I've been looking for a good saying to show what I'm about. "Ductus Exemplo" and "Nec Aspera Terrent" are now the top running choices. Thanks for posting.
