So this CSM from the the 8th MP BDE seems to be out of regulations. From the comments she has been corrected but she claims she is being harassed. I don't even understand how she got to be a CSM at a BDE. What COL out there is letting this happen? In one of the photos she is wearing stilettos in uniform. WTF? What kind of example is this. The worst is from a Facebook user that said:

"This one!!!! Holy **** she was in charge of us in Afghanistan!! I could go on and on about this toxic leader!! Trying to maintain professionalism but this one.....when a CSM so jacked up like this, she was laughing her ass off during our rehearsal of my brothers ceremony after he was killed in Afghanistan, she f***ing yelled at me because I "took too long saying my goodbye " as I'm f***ing crying kneeling in front of it. This post will probably get me in trouble, and ruin the rest of my army career as well as my day and my army experience."

What would you do if you were there? What if you were on command?

What should the Army do about this?

(Thanks to Army MP WTF Moments and it's followers for the photos.)

**************UPDATE************************
The 8th Theater Sustainment Command CSM will be travelling to the 8th MP BDE to have some one on one time with this CSM. It is amazing as leaders will do when they are being called out. He should have done that a long time ago.

This whole thing blew up in a matter of minutes yesterday thanks to social media. I'm surprised she has been able to get away with it for so long. It's a shame that this is what the Army is right now. This CSM isn't the only one. There's soldiers at all levels breaking the rules and regulations, getting away with everything from grooming standards to pencil whipping APFT and height and weight forms. This isn't the Army I joined in 1998. The standard and ability to enforce the standard has vanished. My jaw was on the floor when I first saw this post yesterday. Because of this CSM there are other NCO's and lower enlisted soldiers thinking it's ok to just do what you want to do. This stuff is TOXIC. Creating a new standard, a bad one at that.

I just give them a counseling statement and send them home with no pay. To easy.

SFC (Join to see) - that works too. I think we need to get back to either a "GI HAIRCUT" (forced haircut) or "NO PAY + Negative counceling" because what if there is another war, if soldiers can not take care of simple stuff like that, how can they be expected to take care of themselves and thier buddies in war? These solutions would be a wake up call and would make a great example.

That is a very big hat.... Not the first time she has claimed harassment, from what I understand. It is a shame she has run around unchecked for so long. NCOs are the standard bearers of our Army and our Regiment, especially the CSMs. Lots of us failed here.

SSG Robert Webster - Good questions, Regimental awards, while managed by MPRA, are actually approved by the USAMPS Commandant. I will check. CSM Flournoy has been like this for years, and no one has been able to put her in check. Anyone who does finds themselves with an EO, IG complaint etc... Sad.

COL Charles Williams - Thank you. I am also glad to see that you are also participating in the discussion on Facebook.
Fortunately or unfortunately, I believe that this will turn out very similar to the CSM Teresa King situation. Either way this has been a severe blow to the craft of Leadership (both Officer and NCO) in the Army.

Cameras could be a useful tool, if employed properly. I don't believe that it can be utilized in Living Quarters (barracks) that would be invasion of a soldiers privacy. I could stand behind outside use in garrison in common areas, eg. PX, parking lots, theatres, concessions.

I'm probably going to get a lot of heat with this comment but this is what happens when civilians decide that the military is a social experiment platform. We went from being a fighting force with certain standards and ethos to a place where we are more concerned with equal rights for every minority group that raises their head.
I believe the military was correct in racially integrating the services about a decade before the rest of society did. When the services were racially integrated the color of the skin of soldiers in the ranks may have changed but the military standards didn't change. Somewhere along the way we lost our military bearings when we started getting involved in civil rights/women's rights/ LGBT rights etc. We started giving people special privileges because of their protected class. We are no longer a "uniformed" service where everyone looks alike talks a like acts alike and work as a unified body. The liberal civilian world has tore us up and made us a bunch of individuals with "special" rights. Heaven forbid that you do anything to violate or even offend someones "special" rights.
I believe a soldier should look like a soldier, act like a soldier, and be professional in all they do, no matter what rank, sex, race, religion, or sexual orientation they are.
If you want to be a beauty queen get out of my Army. If you want to be a guy wearing a dress, get out of my Army. If you can't wear the uniform of our country properly, get out of my Army and go find some civilian job where it's acceptable.
On this CSM in particular, she is a disgrace to our uniform. I checked out her Linkedin page. She doesn't even mention her military service and her profile photo looks like she's posing for a fashion shoot. (not a very good one either) I guess she isn't proud of her military service? I also wonder how long she has served before becoming a CSM. Was she pushed to the top because she earned it or was it affirmative action that got her there? If I ran into her I'd be very tempted to pull out my knife and cut her pony tail off and wash her face. I'm just glad I retired before all of this craziness infected my Army.
Ok, all of the haters can jump on board now. That's the new internet Army way isn't it?

Brother, I retired in 1995. I have had a hard time seeing and reading about some of the absolute garbage that has happened since I left. I am thankful I was able to leave when I did. Today's Army would drive me out of my mind.

The CSM is not the only one who sets the tone of a unit. In a good unit this doesn't happen. In any unit that I commanded, I would be mad at the officers in the unit if they didn't come to me with this solely based on her appearance. The incident about a fallen Soldier offends me to the deepest parts of my soul. I had 35 years in the Army - Active and Reserve (I was enlisted first). Unfortunately since I am retired, I still see this. My son is an E4 and often calls me. He is dumfounded that the things that occur because in his childhood there was never any doubt about doing the right thing. You see he is 5th generation military. There are good units that the NCOs police this type of poor performance and then there are others. It is possible to command a unit where honesty and adherence to standards truly exist. I am not dreaming about an utopia, I have about 8.5 years of command time. It only takes NCOs who enforce the rules and officers who back them up

I've been following this since it showed up on my Facebook feed and I'm really confused how she has done this for so long. I mean I've encountered tons of service members who looked like shit bags, but never one who flaunted the regs like she does. How in the name of all that's holy has this woman been allowed to make a mockery of the uniform? She's been deployed all over the world looking like a bag of assholes. So this reflects poorly on all of us, not just the Army.

As a SgtMaj of Marines I had the opportunity to serve with a General Officer who constantly wore eccentric eyeglasses. The General's ass was also as wide as an axe handle. I told her about it respectfully several times. Nothing changed and she was the laughing stock of the command. As a result we played hell with subordinate females complying with Marine Corps regs. On two occasions I instituted punishment which resulted in Request Mast from individuals that saw the General which resulted iny being told not to be such a by the book Marine. Leadership is supposed to start at the top. End result, I was graciously transferred and the General went on to get promoted twice after. Still wearing the same style eyeware. Why, because the Chain of Command is very hesitant to discipline senior females. AND WHY IS THAT?

Probably start with the first few stages of grief. That is, I would be in shock to see a professional soldier looking like this. Phase two, of course, would be, "I must be seeing things (denial)." The negotiation or bargaining phase would be a misnomer because there would not be any room for discussion. She would be on notice and she would comply and meet the standards. Otherwise, she would be charged. Uniform and grooming policies apply to all as does the UCMJ.

At the present time we have piss poor leadership in both the Officer and Senior NCO ranks. I say this as I have witnessed the disregard of standards, the "Good Ole' Boy" system in operation, no UCMJ being enforced especially in the Officer ranks. The service has to start ridding itself of these self indulged so called leaders as they are toxic and are dragging the Army into an abyss it will be hard to get out of. The Sergeants Major rank is not a leadership rank, their position is the Senior Enlisted Adviser to the Commander. The last leadership rank in the NCO chain is the 1SG. In my 40 year career in both enlisted and Officer ranks, I used every available means to lead, but most importantly using the regulatory process in a professional manner. Most leaders of today think they are leading when in fact they are only holding a position. They have not been mentored, trained or learned lessons to apply proper technical abilities. The Colonels and Generals who are relieved of duties for improprieties are hardly dealt with in a harsh manner, they get cushy jobs out of the way and continue on duty. Enlisted with the exception of E8's and E9's are drummed out of the service. What kind of example are we setting? The lack of enforcing and disregard for the regulations, accountability and responsibility have caused this along with the mandates forced by congress with no understanding of the cohesiveness of a unit at any level. We have to get back to the basics, enforce at all levels the regulations, mentor, train and hold all personnel to the same standards. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!

Yes, this CSM is wrong; but the REAL issue is that her boss and every other senior leader on Schofield has doubtlessly seen her and not made a correction for some reason. Appauling!

As a SNCO she should know better. To her CDR, he/she needs to tell her to shape up or ship out. The CDR has the right to fire her, and that's what needs to be done.

She makes me embarrassed to say I was a senior NCO and a Drill Sergeant. Most of us took, and still take those oaths very seriously. She is a disgrace to the NCO Corps and the Army.
