Thousands more soldiers are preparing to deploy to Eastern Europe as Russia-Ukraine tensions continue, the Pentagon announced Friday.
Three thousand members of the 82nd Airborne Division would join 3,000 troops already mobilized to Poland, Germany and Romania.

With a brigade of effectively light infantry. Seems to sending a combat aviation bde fro 101st would be a better statement. As they would be more mobile and have the firepower to do some damage against heavy armor.

And this begs the question as follows: What is their specific assignment? What are they going to do when they get there? What are they specifically not going to do? I did not see anything in this Army Times article which delineated that...unless I missed something!

Got to be sarcastic this morning. Whatever their specific assignment is will be more meaningful than that of the Texas Guard at the southern border.
