Have you discussed with your loved ones how things may look for you in your declining years and told them things they need to hear now?

Bruce Willis is living with frontotemporal dementia (FTD), a progression from his initial 2022 aphasia diagnosis, with updates from his wife, Emma Heming Willis, and family indicating he's receiving love and care, though communication challenges persist as the "unkind disease" progresses, affecting his ability to understand and communicate, but they focus on finding joy and connection, with reports he's stable but his condition requires round-the-clock support.
Key Details:
Diagnosis Progression:
After an aphasia diagnosis in 2022 (affecting speech), his family revealed in 2023 that the condition had advanced to Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD).
Communication Challenges:
FTD significantly impacts his ability to communicate, though his family emphasizes that their emotional connection remains strong.
Care & Support:
He's surrounded by love, care, and has family support, with Emma Heming Willis often sharing updates about their daily life and grief process.
Family Perspective:
His family, including daughters Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah, and ex-wife Demi Moore, share updates, highlighting that while it's a difficult journey, they focus on moments of love, joy, and adapting to their "new normal".
Recent Updates (Late 2025/Early 2026):
Emma noted he's doing "great" with love and care despite the disease, and acknowledged the grief but also the love felt through non-verbal connection.
In essence, Bruce Willis is navigating FTD with significant family support, focusing on connection and adapting to a changed reality, as shared by his wife and family in recent months.

Dementia can manifest in a wide range of behaviors, from periods of gentleness and warmth to moments of agitation or, at times, aggression. I have personally known several friends and their families who have been affected by this challenging condition, and it places an immense emotional and practical burden on caregivers and loved ones. One of the most significant barriers to effective treatment and potential future cures remains the tendency for dementia—particularly Alzheimer’s disease, its most common form—to be identified only after substantial progression has already occurred.
Encouragingly, meaningful advances are being made in earlier and more accurate detection. In 2025, the Alzheimer’s Association released its first clinical practice guidelines for the use of blood-based biomarker tests in specialized care settings. These guidelines highlight highly accurate options, such as tests measuring plasma phosphorylated tau 217 (p-tau217), which offer diagnostic performance comparable to that of more invasive and costly methods, like PET scans or lumbar punctures (spinal taps). The U.S. Food and Drug Administration also cleared the first blood-based test incorporating p-tau217 in 2025, further supporting its reliability in confirming Alzheimer’s-related pathology in symptomatic individuals.
While these developments represent important steps forward in improving diagnosis and enabling earlier intervention, progress can understandably feel too slow for those currently living with or caring for someone affected by this devastating disease. Continued research and investment offer hope for even greater breakthroughs in the years ahead.

Sadly we are well aware of what could happen. And we have the legal and medical paperwork in order. Care will be at home, until it can't be. We don't want to be a burden in our last days...and hopefully we won't be. But if long term care becomes necessary we have made our plan clear to the kids.

SGT Kevin Hughes my son does not like hearing me make plans because he sees me as a 30 year old and not south of 50 years old. LOL!

Unfortunately I am all too familiar with this. I have a brother 15 years younger than me who is in his 6th year of dementia. Very hard for us and worse for his wife and kids

The state where I live is deciding everything for everyone. You should see the tax proposals ready for the legislative session about to begin.

CPL Douglas Chrysler what decisions are they making? Are they designating an age where individuals are required to do certain things?
