On June 17, 1885, the French steamer Isère, laden with the Statue of Liberty, reached the New York port safely. New Yorkers displayed their new-found enthusiasm for the statue, as the French vessel arrived with the crates holding the disassembled statue on board. Two hundred thousand people lined the docks and hundreds of boats put to sea to welcome the Isère. As a first generation citizen of the USA, the Statue of Liberty has tremendous symbolism to me as it stand on Ellis Island and symbolizes freedom to so many around the world SGT John " Mac " McConnell.
The Statue of Liberty has been used in countless movies from Planet of the Apes to modern day thrillers. Miniatures are sold as souvenirs.
I have climbed to the top of the Statue of Liberty a few times in the past. There is a great view from the crown.

TSgt Frank Shirley - Here are two examples of what I consider offensive to bizarre:
(1) First you commented "FREEDOM FOR WHO FORD?" to my response as a first-generation USA citizen as I explained what the Statue has stood for to so many. During WWII when my parents were in wartime London the USA was a beacon of hope. After the war my mother's family took in a young Slav who survived the Treblinka death camp. I met him when I was young man in the 1960s before he died of his injuries.
My parents taught us to respect all people and I used to get into fights because I was not prejudiced against color, creed, or background growing up near west Philadelphia.
Statues and the words inscribed on them are idealistic.
((2) Your comment "BECAUSE WE WERE MADE TO BELIEVE THAT THE STATUE OF LIBERTY MEANT FREEDOM FOR ONE AND ALL. BUT RACISM AGAINST SOME OF GODS CHILDREN DOES REFLECT THE MEANING OF TE STATUE" implies that the statue is to blame when it is the human beings in this nation and around the world who are at fault because racism, bigotry, and other nonsensical prejudices exist. A reasonable prejudice is mine against chocolate because doctors tell me I cannot consume chocolate for health reasons.

TSgt Frank Shirley - I am not sure what you are talking about when you mention "CETAINLY YOU'RE NOT SPEAKING OF THAT WELL USED MYTH OF FREEDOM FOR ONE AND ALL." and "WHO'S FREEDOM DO YOU SPEAK OF? WHERE DOES IT STATE RACISM AGAINST SOME OF GODS CHILDREN. GIVE ME THE ERSE IN THE BIBLE?" and "YES PLEASE GIVE ME THE VERSE IN THE KING JAMES BIBLE"
I didn't see any reference the King James Bible or the Bible in this thread so I am not sure why you are repeatedly posting comments like this.
However since I am a Christian I will respond. The Bible does not include race as a category and the Bible teaches us to treat others as you would like to be treated not as they have treated you. the modern concept play it forward is related to that idea.
Respect for people is a hallmark of Christianity. Granted nobody does it perfectly.
