I also have an SR 1911 and can't find a thing to complain about. It functions well, the trigger is great right out of the box and it looks sharp dressed in stainless and rosewood. I was on the waiting list for about a year after it was first introduced and picked it up for $645. I should have bought 5 more at that price.

The M1911A1 that I used to work on was a relatively well working gun, maybe had a bit too many moving parts but they worked well together. The one thing I could never get over was the narrow grip. It was too narrow for me and never felt comfortable in my hand. They could have easily fixed that by widening the grip a bit. Does the SR 1911 have a narrow grip?

SFC (Join to see) - It's definitely narrower than the double stacked semi-autos. I would guess that the SR 1911 will feel narrow to you. My hands are about average size and the 1911s fit pretty well. I once had a Desert Eagle .44 mag which is made for sasquatch-sized hands. It's also made for sasquatch-sized bank accounts because you can burn a $100 bill in about 10 minutes of target shooting.

Yes, if you don't reload yourself these days you have to be independently wealthy to shoot much, even then it costs a lot more than it used to... but dang it, it's so much fun.

Thanks SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL for sharing the background of the Ruger SR 1911 .45 caliber pistol and reminding us that you own and are trained to use this pistol, my friend.
