MIC in action, we have millions spent on Planning and Analysis, only to end up going with short term, bad results. If we end up with a combat vessel with all the shortcomings of the LCS, the Ford and F-35, we are doing something wrong. It’s always been my opinion that unless the government/private industry doesn’t listen to free advice such as your common sense approach, LCDR Bill Wright because it’s free. Multi billion dollar studies commissioned to the benefactors of the results is incestuous and seldom accurate. JMHO

I'd invite you to call our radio show to discuss your points. Forgive me for being a career civilian, but could you explain how the Ohio sub could take a port, what is a SOC detachment? Respectfully Ken

To comply with START we converted the first four halls of the Ohio Class submarine into SSGNs. USS Ohio (SSBN 726), Michigan (727), Florida (728) and Georgia (729). The submarines have been refitted with up to 154 Tomahawk TLAM (land attack) or Tactical Tomahawk (block IV) missiles and are also be capable of conducting special operations missions with accommodation for Northrop Grumman advanced SEAL delivery systems (ASDS), mission control centre and 102 special operations troops. Give me those tools and I can take a port, the other classes of ships I mentioned can unload in a port onto the piers and hold the port with a MEF, MEU or MEB. The Special Operations Command (SOC) troops can then move on and take an airport then start bringing in Air Force and Army assets. The old days of WWII type landings have been overcome by technology.
