That is very sad news my friend LTC Stephen C. that on June 27, 2018 Sgt. Maj. Christopher Nelms was injured during military free-fall training in Laurinburg, North Carolina and he subsequently died on July 1.

BTW my classmate and friend General Raymond Tony Thomas Commands SOCOM.

"A highly decorated special operations soldier has died from wounds received during military free-fall training, U.S. Army Special Operations Command confirmed Friday.
Sgt. Maj. Christopher Nelms died July 1 while training in Laurinburg, North Carolina, Lt. Col. Robert Bockholt, a spokesman for USASOC, said in a statement to Army Times.
Nelms' death, which the Army did not announce, was first reported by Yahoo News.
Nelms, who Yahoo News identified as a member of the Army’s elite and secretive Delta Force, died when his parachute failed to fully open during a June 27 jump, the outlet reported.
Bockholt told Army Times the incident is under investigation. He declined to provide any more information.
Nelms, 46, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, joined the Army in 1990 as an infantryman. He served with 1st Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment at what’s now Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington, deploying to the Philippines and twice to Iraq, according to information from USASOC."

That’s certainly sad to read of here,LTC Stephen Ford.. of one of our top Army NCOs dying in such a manner.. it goes to show that even top troops are susceptible to trainining accidents.. and a lesson can be derived from it for newer and other older more experienced jumpers that there is no infallibity to accidents of this or other training accidents. S’times there are freak sit-reps where it may happen.. s’times as routine as tying one’s boots or packing their chute.. “we just will not know until it happens when our number comes up on St. Pete’s lecturn at the pearly gates...
A lot of Army news shows up in AFTimes and Miltimes , the latter I have on a app on my little ip-7. A bud who’s a total civ. Was looking and seen I had some diff. Mil-type apps on my phone.. he seems to derive it’s all the same ol’ “repeat information” .so all I need is one app in that genre(Mil)... “here, let me get rid of it for you!”... I say ; “don’t even go there !... you don’t see me saying that about your phone, Marc!”... He seems to think a phone should have barely just enough apps and if one needs s’thing, go to Safari or another search engine like goo-goo <~(he hates when I call it that, says I’m being disrespectful)and look it up..
I do not want to drag it on... so I drop it and move on.. other better subjects to converse about... I can go for some miles on the road and ‘not talk’.. He’d break the ‘golden silence’ and bring up about racing at Pocono or MIS<~(Mi Int’l Spdway).. I’d use his line; “So ... you wanna cookie?”... maybe meaning i’m Not really interested..
Like he does to me on occasion..
I like racing sort of, just not as much.. tell me of a good John Wayne Western genre movie.. or a particular recent news subject..
