CW5 Jack Cardwell, the parachute system used by the Fallschirmjäger during WWII was profoundly different than that of the U.S. Army. The parachute was attached to the jumper’s harness via a single point between the shoulder blades. The jumper could exercise no control over the canopy whatsoever.
