I've had a LOT of First Aid training, including the two-week long Wilderness and Remote Area First Aid course, Stop the Bleed course, HeartSaver course, Infant, Child and Adult CPR and First Aid, and the Water Safety Instructor course. The VERY first thing you learn about working around frozen lakes, etc., is NOT to clump people together in a group on inadequate ice. You also need a rope or some other means of retrieving the victim and the rescuer from the water back to shore. Failing to do that just gets more people dumped into the icy water. Also, the first thing you do is to turn the victim on her side to drain the water, before starting CPR. This is Hollywood, this is NOT how it's done right.
