The left loves to talk about saving "the children" but they keep redefining "child" depending on what numbers they want at the time.

There are some mighty old "Children" in those numbers many would have been eligible to vote except for already being felons.

Many of those "children" whose deaths were "due to gun violence" were armed criminals either shot in the commission of their crimes or shot by other armed criminal "children" in inner city gang disputes.

Absolutley Master Sergeant! Take gangbangers out of the equation, and the numbers would drop dramatically ... even from the ALLEGED, VERY QUESTIONABLE 45 THOUSAND-plus number.

I looked at this story this morning and decided to leave it where it sat. The numbers are terrible to be sure. It counts the ages from birth through 19 years of age. 18 and 19 y/o's aren't children any more. Inner-city gang violence isn't factored in to the equation and a lot of the kids in that group get started in their early teens, blame their older siblings and extended family members for that, not firearms. This is someone using raw data numbers to make a bogus point with an emotionally charged tag line.

Also blame fatherless homes. Kids look to gang leaders as roll models of masculine behavior.

I wholeheartedly agree with your assessment. Raw figures don't distinguish the deaths by self-defense

First, the CDC is a biased entity on many, many fronts! Just look at the rate of "Covid-related deaths," wile Influenza deaths virtually disappeared! A huge number of deaths caused by Covid involved many people who died from heart attacks, ACCIDENTS, etc ... all counted because they TESTED positive for "Covid!"
"Researchers analyzed data collected by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showing that there were a record 45,222 firearm-related deaths in the U.S. in 2020." I seriously doubt there were 45 THOUSAND-plus deaths due to firearms in any given year!
Secondly, a HUGE number of those deaths - likely a MAJORITY involved ADULTS ... teenagers, 18 & 19 and are (were) gangbangers, OR victims of gangbangers! Several years ago, the CDC was tracking firearm deaths and it was found their numbers were seriously skewed ... and they were removed or forbidden then to continue "studying" firearm deaths. After all, is homicide a DISEASE? What is the CDC doing tracking a NON-disease?
I'd be willing to bet that the FBI's Crime Statistics for gun deaths is much, MUCH lower! Anyone who doesn't realize that the CDC, under the current administration, isn't playing a major, anti-gun, public relations (read that as, PROPAGANDA) ploy isn't paying any attention.
