Service members, military doctors detail obstacles to abortion access

A month after the Supreme Court overturned the federal right to abortion access, the Defense Department and service members are still trying to pin down what it means for troops and their families.
DoD is working with its lawyers and Congress to figure out whether legislation or policy could reasonably bridge the gaps in safe, legal abortion access for hundreds of thousands of service members and their families, as states rolling back abortion access creates an extra layer of complication for a community that already has limited access to abortion.

A month after the Supreme Court overturned the federal right to abortion access, the Defense Department and service members are still trying to pin down what it means for troops and their families.

Military installations are Federal property. An abortion can be performed on a military installation even in states that may prohibit them. Now I understand that the military installations do not have the physicians to carry out the procedure. They can hire contract doctors to go to military installations to perform the procedure. The bottom line is that it is the responsibility of the Federal government in this case to provide the care. Now with all that being said, personally, I believe that it should not be allowed unless it is in the case of rape, incest, or a medical need. But I'm not going to force my personal beliefs on to others.

SGT (Join to see) it is up to the Federal government if they want to allow abortions on federal land. And I never said I would support it, except in cases of rape, incest, or medical necessity.
