The mind is a crazy mystery. Who knows what he was thinking or why. Don't know if it had anything to do with the transgender issues, bullying, a hard teacher that failed him...who knows but what I do know is that there are three children that did not make it home and there are parents that are grieving over their loss right now and a community that is in pain and that is where we should focus our attention. For those that pray and beleive in the power of prayer we need to pray and lift them up. For those that don't pray have a moment of silence and just remember these families and lets work for better security, better response, better awareness to stop this nonsense. I don't know what the answers are but I do not that something has to change or we are going to see and hear about more of these.

Having listened to some things this morning regarding this killer, I'm left shaking my head. I'd like to know what the manifesto says as well. Short of having 'thought' police, I'm not sure anything would have prevented this. Her parents apparently had taken the one weapon they knew she had and obviously she had more hidden or stored elsewhere. She was an adult and legally competent. She was law abiding, until she wasn't. We can't legislate morality and we can't prevent a person from just deciding to do evil one day.

LTC Trent Klug - So, what can we do? Just accept it?

MSG Stan Hutchison Short of violating people's Constitutional rights as currently enumerated, yes we do.

You will never be able to legislate morality, and you'll never be able prevent a person ,who keeps their intent on evil to themselves, from starting their actions. Our response will always be reactionary.

I've heard a couple speculative comments about the manifesto and all I can say is we will have to wait until it is officially released to the public.

Dear God,

We come before you today with heavy hearts. We pray for the families of the victims of the school shooting in Nashville. We pray for the children who were killed, and for the adults who were injured. We pray for the school community, as they grieve and try to make sense of this senseless act of violence.

We ask that you comfort the families of the victims, and that you give them strength to carry on. We pray that you would heal the injured, both physically and emotionally. We pray that you would give peace to the school community, and that you would help them to find healing.

We know that you are a God of love and compassion. We know that you are with us in times of trouble. We ask that you would be with the victims of this shooting, and that you would help them to find healing and peace.

In Jesus' name, amen.
