Thanks SSgt Robert Jorgensen for reminding us about the Arlington National Cemetery which is on the grounds of Robert E. Lee's families ancestral home until the end of the Civil War.
I have watched Arlington National Cemetery in the sun, rain, snow, sleet over the decades as I drove to and from the Pentagon from 1995 until 2011 every weekday and weekends from early morning to late at night in Army uniforms and sometimes in civilian clothes.
Fort Myer which is now Joint Base Fort Myer Henderson Hall over watches and bounds the southern side of Arlington National Cemetery. I have spent many hours looking over the crosses and headstones since 1992.
