SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL Drug and alcohol use is a choice. There is plenty of help available to our military members to get them straight so I personally think what they got is rightfully deserved. Like anything else, the first step is admitting you need the help followed by making a change in behavior and habits.

Unless they had significant problems outside of alcohol, a better discharge should have been granted.

"refusing to give soldiers with alcohol and drug problems honorable discharges"
Would they do that for cancer?
Addiction is a disease. It should be treated as such.
