I do think the judge's verdict did not reflect undue command influence. But the judge made a serious error in not revealing that conflict of interest and now we can see the result. Public statement's from Trump (and McCain I believe) also opened the door for that line of questioning in the first place and this outcome. The appearance of impropriety should be avoided to the extent possible.

Hitler tries to contact Joe Biden on Afghanistan (Downfall parody)
Hitler desperately tries to get hold of a senile old man.Only to realize that he is dealing with possibly the WORST Presidentin US History. Possibly one of t...
It's really sad we gave up all those Taliban fighters just for him! President Biden could have kept 5000 troops and some Air Force units in Afghanistan and it would be a stalemate today. I know president Trump wanted to pull out but president Trump didn't do it by President Biden did so he is at fault.

SPC Kevin Ford Taliban said you have the watches and we have the time. The British pulled out in 1913 because they couldn't control the people. We probably wouldn't have done anything had it not been for some bin Laden and his 911 attacks. Still, I lost my first sergeant in afghanistan, I have an idea now a little bit what Vietnam veterans went through although I have been told by Canadians and Americans alike thanking me for my military service.
I really think that the way we left Afghanistan is what encourages communist China but prepare to invade Taiwan and it definitely got bladder Putin involved to attack or continuing to push forward in ukraine. Historians will look at this inflection of 2021 when President Biden acted like the girly man he is. In this 60 Minutes interview with Admiral Mike mullen, I was behind at the left of the camera and taking pictures of him back in December of 2008.

I served in Afghanistan in 2008 and 2009. As a civil affairs project officer, I probably spent at least half a million dollars in various projects in my 8 months there. It's too bad that it was all done in vain. From fixing Wells to building new wells, to building schools, to buying new generators for the hospital, to buying computers for the hospital, to giving wheat seed so they could plant wheat instead of opium so they wouldn't have to give any money to the Taliban to buying used vehicles for the different government offices within the province of f a r a h, Afghanistan. It is a pity.

I lost my first sergeant in afghanistan. I'm sure many people here have and it was all for nothing!

LTC (Join to see) - Vietnam is an apt comparison. I know many on the right do not like Kerry but he was right when he stated in reference to Vietnam, "How do you ask a man to be the last to die for a mistake?"
To be clear, I don't think going to Afghanistan was a mistake (Iraq is a different story for a different thread). We had a good and just reason to go there. Our mistake was staying and trying our hand at nation building. It wasn't a R or a D mistake, it was an American mistake and miscalculation of the situation. Both the Rs and Ds kept us there well past when we did to Al Qaueda all we were ever likely to do in the near term. It started being really questionable after 2 May 2011.
We had good intentions, but it wasn't going to work unless the Afghan people really wanted it and would be willing to fight for the nation we were trying to build. But they weren't. We just can't force people to help themselves and our men and women would have kept dying hoping that one day in the unknown future they would.

MSG Stan Hutchison undetermined number but if we had good close air support, the enemy would think twice. I remember that we had some Marines bring a wounded Taliban. The Taliban fighter was one who survived a counter attack by close air support Marine Cobra helicopters because they were setting up IEDs and they got caught. Our Illinois National Guard pulled guard Duty for them because some of them were prior service marines. We patched up the Taliban fighter so we could exploit him and get information from him. We lived large compared to the Marine combat Outpost that only had one hot meal a day and they were under attack all the time.
I befriended an Italian m a n g u s t a pilot who had turbine failure and one of his engines and made an emergency landing. His crew came by in a Chinook helicopter and that's me on the back playing with an mg42 machine gun.
One of the pictures is an Apache helicopter but a couple of them are they Italian equivalent.
