Thanks for sharing that "House and Senate negotiators have agreed not to require thousands of California National Guard troops to repay enlistment bonuses a decade after they signed up to serve in Iraq and Afghanistan" SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL. That is great news for those CANG soldiers and the others affected.
I see that provision is limited to "all the bonuses and student loan repayment contracts awarded between 2004 and 2015 "for which the department has reason to believe a recoupment of pay may be warranted," the measure states."
I wonder if Congress will expand it to include earlier periods. I expect that if they ever credit mobilization from 9/11/2001 to mobilized reservists in order to reduce retirement age forward up to January 30, 2008 they may consider expanding the cancellation of bonus repayments fro earlier periods.
