Thanks for reminding us TSgt Joe C. that on July 2, 1809 after becoming alarmed by the growing encroachment of whites squatting on the Shawnee and neighboring tribe Native American lands, Shawnee Chief Tecumseh calls on all Indians to unite and resist and his call united Indians from the Shawnee, Potawatomi, Kickapoo, Winnebago, Menominee, Ottawa, and Wyandot nations.
Not surprisingly but foolishly after the USA victory at the battle of Tippecanoe in 1811, the confederation sides with other Europeans the British in the war of 1812.
An irony is that Tecumseh was killed at the Battle of the Thames in 1813 since the Thames is a name of a major river in the land of the nation that he allied with.
