SP5 Mark Kuzinski Did you know that there are two types of leg muscles: those built for distance (longer) and those built for sprints (compact?) I am built for sprints. Which makes alternating sprints and walks to reoxygenate a better idea for me than a steady pace. At 5' and 98 lbs, it was the part of PT I dreaded (short legs, more steps) but in preparation, I ran daily from CT to MA and back. When the time came, I pitted myself against a former track member of Missouri State, watching his form, both upper body and lower. I am slightly competitive (ok, more than slightly but I am my own best target) and made that first quarter mile in under a minute, in front of him. My next few laps were slower, but I still was able to make my time. He had very little arm swing, an even, long, smooth, stride. The ease of a seasoned runner. I had muscle memory and determination and at this point in my life, if I never have to run laps again, I will die happy. Dance for 3 or 4 hours? Piece of cake. I climbed A LOT of trees as a kid, my dad tried to keep me out of them by sawing off the lower limbs; upper body strength and I was up. The great outdoors is a great place to train! And no, I don't want to do sit ups or push ups again, either. I'm good.

SP5 Mark Kuzinski - I checked out the Peloton and Soulcycle exercise bikes but they were too expensive.

Sgt Tom Cunnally - I can agree with that. I purchased this HB and I have 2 1/2 years of use on it with no major problems and it cost around $400 - So far I have just under 6,000 miles on it. We have some really great paved trails in Michigan.

SP5 Mark Kuzinski Great information for those on RP that still need to pass that APFT Test every six months and great information for those of us that need to get back to it - LOL!
