No surprise that POTUS Obama's SEC Def would decry the 9/11 bill SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL. Saudi Arabia still requires US female service-members to be fully covered and escorted by a male whenever they leave post.
Since the assault on the Grand Mosque in Mecca in 1979 the House of Saud has been blackmailed into financing Wahhabi doctrine in western schools including the USA.
I hope the Senate does vote to override the POTUS so that the victims of 9-11-2001 families can sue Saudi Arabia in Federal Court.
Whether or not the House of Saud is found liable or not allowing the process to go forward is important.

SGT Damaso V Santana - If they don't, the second we get done "getting some" from Saudi, watch every single country go to "court" and sue us. Heads would roll. And the blame game would be intense.

SSG Warren Swan - This suit only applies to the House of Saud which gave in to the Wahhabi rebels who assaulted the grand mosque in 1979. [Iraq and Afghanistan are completely separate because we have not based our forces there in relative peace for 40 years]
The House of Saud would be able to save face by pointing out which of the intel service personnel were involved or aware of the 9-11-2001 attacks on our nation beforehand.
I would like to see the families of the victims to have their day in court if for nothing else to allow them to state their case.
If the USA was guilty of launching terrorist attacks in Afghan or Iraq they might have case. Syria may have a case against us but that gets into sensitive area.

LTC Stephen F. - Yes Sir I know. But others who will be suing us won't care about that. They're going to open up their own cases in their own country and "unleash" their BS kangaroo courts. In the Stan if we killed or hurt an animal, or was even suspected of doing it, we'd end up in the weekly shura(sp), where the elders would tell us what happened and how much it'd cost to replace such a "rare" and "fine" specimen of whatever animal it was they lost. We were doing that in 08-09. Correct me if I'm wrong but in the 90's in Germany if you killed an animal, you had to pay so much for that animal and the offspring it could've had for so many generations? This bill would seriously hinder us, and payback from or "ME Partners" would be rather swift. This bill nails Saudi, would there be a chance for the folks held by Iran to get theirs? Heaven forbid (soon to be inmate) Bergdhal sues Iraq for illegal confinement.

SSG Warren Swan - we were under the same rules in Germany decades ago. If you knocked down and tree or killed a farm animal there were calculations for how many generations of animal descendants the US government would pay for. That was part of international relations and our SOFA. The same is true for Iraq and Afghanistan and was true in the former Yugoslav republics and in Somalia operations.
That is the way we operate - because we are a nation of laws we are generally responsible to do what is right.
Kangaroo courts have brought USA citizens up on charges frequently over the past century. The US State Department is responsible for responding to those and has the lead when US service members or leaders are charged in foreign courts.
We need to do what is right for our own people.

It could be especially devastating to anyone appointed by POTUS that disagrees with him.
