SSgt (Join to see) It is unbelievable. I truly believe that our country, our news, and our government has hit an all time low. Unfortunately, this opens up the United States for more terror attacks and I believe a war with a rogue nation because of this divide and churn - just my personal opinion. I want to see what the scholars have to say:

I also see great potential for increased terrorist activity largely based on issues caused by the media and political circus going on in our country.

MSG Mark Million - Most of them are too short-sighted to see that they are doing more harm than good by posting unsubstantiated stories. I seem to remember a fable when I was 2 that had to do with a little boy crying wolf. I also remember a rhyme: Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never hurt me. Seems like a lot of supposed "experts" have forgotten these 2 little things I learned as a 2 year old!

Journalism died, a casualty of the Vietnam War. News became a profit center for the broadcast media and newspeople became celebrities. The broadcasters hyped them like movie stars (and for the same reason - to increase audience share and increase revenues). High school grads were thus tempted to seek college degrees in journalism (for much the same reason young actors aspire to be stars and become mega-rich). In school they became fodder for Leftist professors who indoctrinated them with a narrative, a narrative far more important than truthful reporting. Donald Trump's win in last November's election seriously upset that narrative and they'll now do anything and everything to put it back on track. They'll lie, cheat, and steal with impunity because they control the narrative. It's really that simple. They are not just the Little Boy Crying Wolf. They have joined the wolves and anyone who believes them is a greater fool than me

Thanks SSgt (Join to see) for reminding us to use reason and not simply give in to the hype.
When I was a plebe at West Point [1975-1976] we had to scan the front page of the NY Times and be prepared to discuss any topic with any upper classman who queried us. That helped to learn to be a quick study and to react under pressure.
I learned critical thinking skills including analysis in Logic, Philosophy and many of the science and engineering classes.
I always try to find reputable sources for information and have an extensive library of books to use as well. I prefer original sources and when they are too hard to come by I look for well documented research with footnotes.
I am most familiar with US, European and Military history, geography and international relations. I have been amazed at how many responders on RallyPoint have been duped by revisionist "history" about this nation.
I know of several school systems that teach logic to students. I hope this practice spreads to most school districts. Thanks for mentioning me COL Mikel J. Burroughs
