Thanks TSgt Joe C. for reminding us that on November 21, 1877 American inventor Thomas Edison announced his invention of the phonograph, a way to record and play back sound.

Edison not only took America out of the dark, he gave us means to have our tunes come from a box. He would undoubtedly be pleased to see the current state of technology with many of us having our record collection stored in the electronics in our phone.
