True story: The first sergeant and I bought one of these and replaced the computer of the Squadron Superintendent with it. He constantly complained about his inability to get the computer to do what he wanted so we gave him something that was entirely in his control. I thought he would appreciate the palimpsest nature of the gift. LOL

A cool toy that I never mastered - nothing ever looked quite right like square or oblong tires on a car. Very frustrating.

Yes, hours of fun or frustration. Never gave up though.

Thank you, my friend SGT John " Mac " McConnell for sharing a noun word of the day palimpsest using the trademarked Etch A sketch is an example that has endured since 1960 and brought entertainment and developed skills for countless youngsters over the generations.
palimpsest -seems to be directly related to papyrus
1. Papyrus is "a material prepared in ancient Egypt from the pithy stem of a water plant, used in sheets throughout the ancient Mediterranean world for writing or painting on and also for making rope, sandals, and boats."
2. Medieval and dark age parchment is also related to palimpsest IMHO.

Yes it was parchment or tablet utilizing papyrus. Its usage was over and over , time and time again. Kinda like this song. Thanks for the share brother LTC Stephen F. .
