As somebody who has spent nights behind bars as a teenager and each one of my sons has spent time in jail/prison with one serving 35 years in prison for crimes he did not commit [Article 32 investigation cleared him] I recognize that what doesn't kill you can make yo stronger including time spent behind bars SSgt (Join to see).
Spending time behind bars for crimes you didn't commit is much wore than being sentences for a crime you did commit - even truancy which thankfully is not a felony :-)

I feel so sad with no tolerance and the judge needs sanction. I just do not why some people are thoughtless. That kid is a role model with a caveat. Thanks for sharing. Larry

Despite the fact that I have long bemoaned excess in government, I'm not sure that this is an example of such. For me it is more indicative of lack of judicial discretion. Judges like this tempt people into legislating verdicts (like Three Strikes Laws) and taking away the power of good judges to make the sentence fit the "crime". Indeed, there is no crime in this case. This judge is a fool.

Fortunately, he dropped the charges. It's not known if the charges were expunged. it's too bad she had to spend the night in jail because an idiot wearing a robe.

In the Asian community, an arrest is embarassing and causes a lot of pressure. She is a good girl.
