I concur with the statement that my USMA classmate Retired Army Lt. Gen. Dana Chipman stated that he "repeatedly commended the military's actions on the night of the attacks during closed interviews with Defense Department officials," SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL .
the military was poised and prepared to do what need to be done to rescue Ambassador Stevens and the others. Unfortunately the civilian leaders of the Sate Department and the Office of the President and National Security Council failed to act.

The DoD did act properly. The State Department did not.

I do not challenge the concept of fundamental control by our elected government officials, but as far as the Dept of State goes, we would never have won WW2 if we had bowed to their compromising "diplomacy". Where was the courage of warriors here?
