This gives rise to suspicions that the officer involved believes "Only us cops should be allowed to have guns".

PO1 H Gene Lawrence - Trouble is, the "them" is not the public that law enforcement is supposed to serve, but should be restricted to the criminals that plague our society.

CW3 Harvey K. - true, but the Police find themselves thinking that they are different from everyone.

Abject stupidity regarding the LEO. in GA there is no duty to inform a LEO if you are armed. I normally would, since there is a chance I may expose it while getting my license out.
Yesterday I was out scouting for deer. I was armed with my 45 open carry. There are bears where I hunt. As I was walking down a dirt road back to my truck a game warden pulled up. He introduced himself, I did the same. We talked about different areas he has noted deer. In a few minutes, he headed back on patrol. No mention at all of the 45 on my hip. Gotta love GA gun laws.

If you failed to inform me that you had a firearm, I would have to assume there is a reason. I wonder what that is?

SSG Edward Tilton I inform, even though there is no mandate for it in GA, to make sure I stay safe if a LEO is skittish or not well informed on the firearms laws in this state.
Yes, there are LEO'S that are not informed. One of my anesthesia partners was stopped while on the way to an emergency by a local cop who almost came unglued when my partner declared he had a GA weapons carry license and was carrying.

SSG Edward Tilton in my case above, I was doing nothing illegal. My firearm was quite visible, I did not feel I needed to make reference to it. LEO's in GA, most of them, understand that there is no mandate to inform. It is perfectly legal for me to have a firearm on the WMA outside the legal season. I may carry open or concealed with a Weapons Carry License. For the game wardens or any LEO to detain me for the sole purpose to check for my WCL is illegal in GA.

PA Game Wardens, and especially police, are very tame when you give them your license, permit, etc, and mention what you're carrying. I'm in Western PA but the closer you get to Philidelphia, the more likely the police are to being testy about guns, permit or not. Mostly it's just a testy attitude and nothing illegal although they pulled over a buddy on his motorcyle with multiple cars and M4 carbines pointed at him. The Lieutenant in charge, KNEW him and HATED that he carried and had orchestrated the pullover.
