Thanks TSgt Joe C. for letting us know that on February 10, 2014 former child star Shirley Temple died at her Woodside, California, home at age 85 as Shirley Temple Black after an adult career as a US Ambassador to Czechoslovakia in 1989 where she witnessed the collapse of communism in that country.
As an adult she was conservative and active in California’s Republican Party and in 1967 she made an unsuccessful bid for the U.S. House of Representatives. In 1969, President Richard Nixon named her a delegate to the United Nations General Assembly.
"Calif. (AP) -- Shirley Temple, the dimpled, curly-haired child star who sang, danced, sobbed and grinned her way into the hearts of Depression-era moviegoers, has died, according to publicist Cheryl Kagan. She was 85."
