Generally throughout the world and in this nation memorials are only erected after the conflict has been terminated or an armistice has been signed SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL.
I am not in favor of erecting a memorial to the Global War on Terror ever since terror tends to raise its ugly head after periods of unspeakable violence have occurred from before the US Civil War, through WWI, WWII, the Vietnam War until today.
I would think it would make more sense to erect a memorial to those who were killed in OIF and one day it my make sense to erect a memorial to those who were killed in OEF- Afghanistan from Johnny Micheal "Mike" Spann to the last service-member or"civilian" citizen killed in that operation.
