John Adam Belushi (/bəˈluːʃi/; January 24, 1949 – March 5, 1982) was an American comedian, actor and musician. Belushi is best known for his "intense energy and raucous attitude"[1] which he displayed as one of the seven original cast members of the NBC sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live (SNL). Throughout his career, Belushi had a close personal and artistic partnership with his fellow SNL star Dan Aykroyd, whom he met while they were both working at Chicago's The Second City comedy club.[2]
On March 5, 1982, Belushi was found dead in his hotel room at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles, having been injected with a "speedball", a mixture of heroin and cocaine. He was posthumously honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2004.

It's too bad that today's Hollywood celebs are not taking lessons from his tragic ending! No matter how good you are or strong you feel, drugs will kick your ass! Yes, everyday people need the lesson as well!

That was one funny guy and great times on SNL. "Jane you ignorant slut" Our company president used that quote in a discussion with me in mixed company and drew an ER complaint from someone who was too young to get the reference. I even showed the skit to my kids who still did not get it. You really had to come from our era where there was only a few channels and you had to watch 60 mins and "Point/Counter Point" segment to get the entire reference. I find it extremely refreshing these days to find anyone ten years or more younger than myself who can click mentally on all those memories.

Belushi was very athletic and talented. Years ago in Chicago there was a columnist named Mike Ryko who was a friend of the Belushi family. Gave some nsight into Balushi.
