Thanks for letting us know Maj Marty Hogan that December 2 is the anniversary of the birth of famed Spanish Conquistador who led an expedition that decimated the Aztec Empire Hernando Cortes. He was not awarded the title of viceroy as he had hoped, but he was named Marques del Valle de Oaxoaca.
He has been much maligned in history although he was a product of his age which focused on world domination and exploitation of natives for the glory of the victor.
I am not a fan of the words to Neil Young's Cortez the Killer but I enjoy the music of Crazy Horse from the album Zuma in 1975.

I follow the piece, howeferz historically, I'm afraid, Cortes, Pizzaro, even Columbus, from what I've read, often left a great deal to be desired insofar as their sense of common humanity. Obviously, that was a wholly different time, certainly, and one can't judge those in prior centuries by modern mores, it's just that, from what I've read, he, as well as a good many of the other conquistadors, weren't exactly the pleasantest of humans, in many instances, I'm afraid, I kmow I'll get debate about this, just an observation, of course, mànt thanks.
