Thanks for letting us know PO1 William "Chip" Nagel Moo, moo
Are angry birds better than mad cows :-)
Bovine spongiform is still only detectable via autopsy.
For those of us stationed in Europe in the 1980s :-(

There are tests out now that can rule out other forms of dementia then a brain biopsy is performed to confirm. We recently had a scare here which a man that had developed it. Luckily for the had the nontransmittmital type, a verruend of CJD

I used to donate blood regularly and as a matter of fact I donated long after I returned from being stationed in Bamberg Germany 1981 to 1984. Since I required 15 units of blood during my mitral valve repair surgery at Walter Reed AMC in March 2003, I hoped to be able to donate blood once I got healthy - took 4 or 5 months to get my core temperature from 34 degrees to normal and another year for the beta blocker does to be reduced, etc.
I hope one day to be able to donate blood again SP5 Christine Conley SGT Anna Kleinschmidt PO1 William "Chip" Nagel

We recently had a scare here in Arkansas where a man was diagnosed with VCJD luckily it was not the infectious kind, but still a horrible way to die. There has been a varrient of TSE's spreading through the US since 2001 in the wild white tail deer and elk population. It was first seen in Colorado in 1966? But only in a small group of farmed deer. they have coined it chronic wasting disease, CWD is the same prion based illness that is found in BSE and CJD . As of yet they have not seen transmission to humans but they said that humans would not develop mad cow in England for years until they did. It would also be called a varrient of CJD. If you do eat deer avoid the eyes, the pain the spine the tounge and the lymph steak.

It would be given only if it is needed. It is much too invasive to be a routine test. Since there is no cure there is really no reason to give it other that to determine a potential outbreak since it would require opening your skull and taking out a piece of your brain.
