Belly gunners had an even shorter life expectancy! Ever visit the 8th Air Force Museum In Pooler, GA? An awesome museum it tells the story so well!

Thank you, my friend SGT (Join to see) for honoring Maynard Harrison Smith who was awarded the Medal of Honor for actions as a ball gunner for his conduct during a bombing mission on May 1, 1943 targeting the U-Boat pens at Saint-Nazaire in Loire-Atlantique, France, on the Bay of Biscay.
on July 12, 1943 President Franklin Delano Roosevelt signed his medal of honor.
