I'm absolutely appalled that this has come to be policy by the Department of the Navy. This is utterly ridiculous and shouldn't have been put into play, in any area of the world. You're now saying to everyone that "we'll send you into combat " , but by god don't you let me catch you buying any booze since you are under age?
That's absolutely ridiculous and counter productive to moral off duty. There's nothing wrong with allowing the troops to go and indulge while out on liberty. However if it becomes a problem with abuse of alcohol, leading up to derogatory behavior and defamatory as a ambassador of the United States.
Then intervention is needed to prevent alchohol related medical issues . In addition to a decline in on the job performance. This is where the subordinates supervisory team is supposed to act on the problem since they notice thing's before they have to result in disciplinary actions.
I see this as a breakdown in the leadership of the First Class mess, CPO mess, and in the Wardroom. Otherwise this would have never been conceived from the start!!!!!!
I used to hold my supervisors accountable for ensuring that everyone enjoyed their liberty status by returning those who were on the brink of overindulgence of alcohol. They were additionally required to inform the medical staff if a shipmate was so incapacitated that they placed a watch on them throughout the night.
I don't get it has everything just gotten so far out of control, that the bureau is going to castrate everyone and pass out pacifiers to the fleet ? Doesn't anyone stand up for their subordinates anymore????

Now, wait a dang minute! It is bad enough that we are forced to comply with archaic state laws and our warriors have to comply in CONUS. Overseas we were always allowed to drink as we followed the rules of the COUNTRY! Usually, that meant if our Sailors were in the Navy they could drink just like locals! I am not advocating drunken brawls; I am saying that there is nothing wrong with a drink or two after a hard day of work!
I Agree with other comments here - This is Embarrassing as CWO3 Dennis M. said!!! LCDR (Join to see) you are absolutely correct, someone in JAG needs a real job, or is it State? Let Sailors and other Military Members who fight for their country be treated as adults, not children! Send the State Department overseers home!

LCDR (Join to see) I have a friend that said he has alter boy outfits he is going to sell to the US Navy sailors! Since they all seem to be entering sainthood! This Navy has nothing better to do than this? Massive sarcasm ! This new Navy embarrasses me.
