I did not realize that MSG Roy Benavidez gave a Duty, Honor, Country speech in 1991 SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL. I am very familiar with Douglas MacArthur's speech with the same title.
His heroism is legendary. What the Social Security Administration did in 1983 a mere two years after the current President Ronald Reagan presented the Medal of Honor to him in 1983 is despicable.
Somebody at the SSA apparently decided cutting benefits for veterans and disabled made sense in their twisted minds.
In "1983, Benavidez told the press that the Social Security Administration planned to cut off disability payments he had been receiving since his retirement, as well as the disability payments for thousands of other veterans. He went to Capitol Hill and pleaded with the House Select Committee on Aging to abandon their plans, which they finally did."
Kudos to MSG Roy Benavidez

I received the 'Roy Benavidez Leadership Award' when I graduated from the Special Forces Medical Sergeants Course, 18D 300 F-1, at Ft Sam Houston after reclassifying from being an 18C. To this day, I still consider that as my highest award after serving 22+ years in the US Army before retiring. Excellent video, truly inspirational, a giant among men, and I had the honor of meeting this legend in the SF community before he died.

Thank you for sharing!
