The new refuelers will replace the KC-135 fleet, which is a very old air frame SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL. I like where the B-21 is headed and hope to see them in action soon enough. Never was a fan of the F-35 though.

When I read Milestone I was thinking acquisition program Milestones A, B, C SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL and the Full Rate Production (FRP) or the Full Deployment (FD) Decision
Significant Acquisition Milestones
"MDD" - Materiel Development Decision
"MS A" - Milestone A Decision Review
"CDD Val" - Capability Development Document Validation
"Dev RFP Rel" - The Development Request for Proposals (RFP) Release
"MS B" - Milestone B Decision Review
"MS C" - Milestone C Decision Review
"FRP/FD Dec" - The Full Rate Production (FRP) or the Full Deployment (FD) Decision

I expect the F-35 is at the Full Rate Production (FRP) or the Full Deployment (FD) Decision
While the B-21 Raider long-range strike bomber may well be at MDD or the MS A step based on it 2025 production target date.
In any event I expect that the POTUS Trump administration will evaluate the F-35 joint program [USAF, Navy and USMC variants] and the KC-46 Pegasus. To be honest I am more interested in the KC-46 Pegasus program since refueling capability impacts all aircraft [some exceptions such as SR-71, etc.]

@SFC Joe S. Davis JR., MSM, DSL I agree that F-35 is giant money pit. Further if the Air Force replaces the venerable A-10 with the F-35, better be prepared to lose more aircraft, and to lose troops on the ground. I do not ever want to see that happen. The A-10 has redundant systems built into its redundant systems. It has armor to protect the pilot. It has two engines set above the fuselage. It can carry a larger, more varied weapons package per sortie compared to the F-35. It is also far cheaper. I can see replacing the F-16 with the F-35. They are, on paper, similar aircraft. Same with the AV-8 in the Marine Corps, the VSTOL Variant of the F-35 is similar on paper to the AV-8. Now the fact that pilots have said the F-35 is unstable is not good. I sincerely hope that they do not try to replace the F-18 with the Naval variant of the F-35, it is not a good replacement for our naval air forces (including Marine F-18 Squadrons).

The KC-46 I can only say it is about damned time. For too long the Air Force has been forced to "make do" by re-purposing other aircraft for the aerial refueling. I am glad that they are going to have an airframe built specifically for the air refueling mission.

As for the B-21 program, SHHHHH, it's a secret.

Thanks for sharing.
