Thanks for letting us know about the Assignment Interactive Module pilot which is intended to be an assignment system that looks at a broader range of a soldier's experience and expertise to line them up with the right jobs SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL.
The initial test groups are low density specialties: nuclear and cyber officers, Army dietitians and students at the Command and General Staff College.
In any event this seems to be an improvement on the dream sheet as long as your personnel and training records are accurate since "assignment officers will be able to look at the available pool to start comparing candidates, and in the spring, units will begin filling out profiles for the jobs they're looking to fill."
Since "the pilot will continue through 2017, followed by the roll-out of the Integrated Personnel and Pay System-Army, first in with the Pennsylvania National Guard, in 2018" I expect it will be 2020 at the earliest before this system is filed Army wide.
It will be interesting to see how this system works out in actuality - special requests by flag officers will still have priority I expect.
