Every time I see an article like this it saddens me. The women who chose to serve in the best service branch in the United States (yes I am biased) is not only detrimental to the Corp. But the Esprit De Corps, we strive to be ready to serve this great country, on land, sea, and air. There are Marines who see the women as less than them, and I find that unacceptable. We take the same oath as well, sworn in I am tired of all the end fighting to demean women who choose to serve. In the past they say that they are weak because their PT was less than what the men do. That is being redone and they will now have to qualify the same as the men. COL Mikel J. I really don’t understand this. You can get pictures of naked women on the internet, magazines, etc. Why risk your career etc? What is point!

Sir, It’s probably some low life who doesn’t have respect for anyone including himself, and he thinks taking and posting nude pictures of women is macho. What a POS.

SGT (Join to see) - I agree. I always think that could be my wife, my daughter, a daughter in law or a grand daughter. These women are good troops doing the job, give them respect!

You are a normal, decent person. That's why you don't understand. Only sexual predators get off on some crap like this. Whether it's females or males being taken advantage of sexually (whether photos or physically) takes a depraved person in my opinion.

Every time this topic lands on RP I have to put up this sort of response.

The origin of these photo's is important here and should be in the discussion from senior leadership as well.

Either the pictures were taken by the woman (selfie), allowed to be taken (consensual at the time) or they were clandestinely taken (illegally in some way). Let's dispatch with the clandestinely taken pictures. That is a crime and should be punished appropriately.

If the pictures of the nude/semi nude/scantily clad women were taken by themselves or they allowed them to be taken (for what ever reason) then they are responsible for the issue. If you do not want these sorts of pictures of you out there, don't take them. I know we will here stories about an affair gone bad and someone sharing pictures they felt were taken privately etc. That is self deception. If you are taking nudes/semi nudes or making sex videos (as some appeared to have done) then you have compromised yourself and you own it.

How many of you have nude pictures of you floating around the internet or in digital images (or other images)? Don't answer that question, it was rhetorical. Almost none of you do. Why, because you never took any or allowed them to be taken so there is nothing to disseminate.

If no images are ever taken then there are no images to share, period. Senior leadership should come down hard on the women taking these images as well.

Maybe one day we’ll not have to see this anymore Cpl Jeff N.. I didn’t serve with females in my time but had I, I would have kept my nose clean despite what the other men did. Hell, there was a lot of marijuana smoking in Vietnam I saw. That didn’t mean it was ok for me to do it. Same goes here.

Keith, the point here is it is not just the men that have responsibility for these pictures being out on the internet. Most are take as selfies and/or willingly. They get to the internet and then people get upset. If you do not want nude pics of you on the internet, do not take them or allow them to be taken. That is how you avoid this issue.

Should anyone know that in this age you probably can't trust anyone with nude photos? Probably - but the fact is that it is not unreasonable for someone who has been in a relationship with someone that they feel comfortable enough to send them pictures like these. That other person shouldn't be a POS and be vindictive in a break up or be a jerk and share with friends.

The issue could be avoided if people weren't assholes to start with and would keep their promises and not break their trust.

I, personally, don't trust anyone 100%. I have never taken photos like that because of that fact. But IF I had given, say, my ex husband photos like that when I was married and then he sent them out after I divorced him...in some states that's illegal. It's called revenge porn. It's not my fault IF I had done that because I, what, mistakenly trusted my husband?
"If no images are ever taken then there are no images to share, period." - False. Photoshop works wonders these days. Even if you prove they are fake, they still exist and people still share them and sometimes don't believe that they were faked. Someone's life is still ruined.

SFC Kelly Fuerhoff - I hear you but if you allow nude pictures of yourself to be taken by anyone or loaded to a device (or taken on a device) that is hooked to the internet, you are wide open for an issue. That issue will have been self created. You can call it revenge porn or any other words that make you feel better. You are 100% responsible for any nude pics of yourself you take or you allow others to take, period. Own it.

If at any moment you feel comfortable sending nude pics of yourself to anyone that is your first warning sign you are involved in some serious self deception and not guarding your privacy correctly or appropriately.

Even pics that your husband does not share can be accessed by others if they are hooked to a device that can be accessed by the internet. If you value your privacy you simply don't allow the pics to be taken.

Photoshops don't really matter, they are not real. What is the value in someone photo shopping nude images of someone? All that matters is you know they are fake. You cannot help what others think.
