Plebe Summer we spent a solid week painting this saying on one of the transoms. Overtime we were finished, our detailers would find something wrong and we had to start all over.... Still like it though.

Sometimes articles like this, written by people who really do not understand the Navy and our culture sound good, but they do not stand up to in-depth examination. “Ship, shipmate, self," really is and has to be a way to look at our culture and understand how Sailors need to think to fulfill our mission. I really do not believe the newest generation of Sailors is so different from the previous ones! We teach how this works in Boot Camp and then refine it along the way! Without the Ship, there is no need for Shipmates. Shipmates help us through the tough places and make us stronger. We make our Ship safe and enhance our Shipmates. Full Circle!
