In my view, Lt Col Charlie Brown, the USAF should be in control of all aircraft and operations below a certain physical distance above the Earth, which craft have wings up to a certain size or configuration, engines of a limited type and speed capability and are not intended to go into orbit or beyond... Any craft designed for traveling to orbit or beyond should be the responsibility of the USSF... The handoff or handshake area might be the area between the highest an aircraft can fly and below an orbiting position... Call it a gray area for now...

It won't be that long before aircraft and spacecraft will merge as technology rises... With that comes, what is considered to be, exotic engines, which may take the guise of anti-gravity engines, warp drives, space time dilation and more... Solar sales for space missions will die on the vine, so I wouldn't go down that path... Space travel will reach a point, where a craft will be able to travel from O to Light speed (Protective Shields required as well as artificial gravity for such craft). Beyond that will come light speed plus craft for interstellar travel and those craft will travel interstellar space using the controlled engines for warping space-time to move craft faster than the speed of light, while the craft rides a type of gravity wave or time dilation wave... Just free thinking here, Charlie...

Sounds reasonable to me. I went over 50,000 feet once, does that make me a space vet?? :-))

At least they are doing something. I saw where they are already building up their contractor staff. Supporting the industrial war machine.
