I came home from Vietnam in 1967 before the times of outward hostilities towards Vietnam vets,my home coming was more of an indifference toward the war, people actually asked me were I was and when I told them they thought what a sucker I was for enlisting, instead of getting a deferment for college or phony doctors 4F status most of them did in fact go to school and had very successful careers, but I have something they will never have a Brotherhood that has lasted a lifetime and the knowledge well never forget what we did over there,we took the Oath and did our duty,so if somebody wants to thank us,your welcome!

I was somewhat surprised to learn that this this commemoration includes all 9 million U.S. veterans who served from Nov. 1, 1955, to May 15, 1975, and their families SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL as Vietnam veterans. It is interesting that Congress authorized the United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration, which was established under the secretary of defense and launched by the president in May 2012.
I am part of those 9 million U.S. veterans since I enlisted in November 1974. I knew I was included in the Vietnam War era veterans and I was part of the Vietnam War era GI bill. I never considered myself a Vietnam veteran and do consider myself a Cold War veteran.
Kudos to every veteran who served in Vietnam or the nearby vicinity of Vietnam.
