I am ok with this for the following reason...these models are for one thing..air to air and we haven't had that in many many conflicts. Now the F-16...it has mutiroles and we would have to look at the specific role of each variant...the air to air role yeah get rid of it, the air to ground or the SEAD role...probably need to keep it around for a while. If we do we have the F-22 and F-35 coming on line that can multirole and kick some serous @$$. It will take time to put them out of the inventory and by that time our F-22 and F-35's will be fully operational anyway.

If the maintenance costs are exceedingly high and capabilities of the aircraft have diminished, then perhaps it is time to remove them from service, but if not, they have a place in the Air Forces inventory... Just my view without knowing all the facts regarding each aircraft... Lt Col Charlie Brown...
