I won't be around today to respond to all of you, since we'll be on the road driving most of the day here in San Jose. Here is my special response for today for everyone...

“Pura Vida”

It’s Sunday here in Costa Rica and we’re headed south…

We are living a part of our dream to provide the next level of support along with Warriors for Life (WFL) Online Peer Support Group where Veterans and First Responders can come to get an extended period of support and holistic healing in the beautiful jungles of Costa Rica on the Pacific side of the country. That leads me to this quote…

‘Through thick or thin, I’ll accept you at your strongest yet love and support you at your weakest.’ – Unknown Author

May you continue to provide support to your family, friends, and those in need in your own special way; may your mind, body, and soul be opened to grace, goodness, peace, forgiveness, and a continued bountiful life of purpose; and keep your family safe, secure, happy, and healthy.” — COL (Ret) Mikel Burroughs
Sometimes support comes as a ‘Blessing in Disguise!’ so come join Volunteer & Veteran SGT Steve McFarland TONIGHT for "Healing Through Faith" addition of Warriors for Life (WFL) Online Peer Group Support. TONIGHT's Topic: "Blessings In Disguise!"

No Straight Line to God

Just as the Bible takes us through many stages of consciousness and salvation history, it takes us individually a long time to move beyond our need to be dualistic, judgmental, accusatory, fearful, blaming, egocentric, and earning-oriented. Isn’t it a consolation to know that life is not a straight line? Many of us wish it were—and have been told that it should be, but I haven’t encountered a life yet that’s a straight line to God, including Mother Teresa's! It’s always getting the point and missing the point. It’s God entering our lives and then us fighting it, avoiding it, running from it. There is the moment of divine communion or intimacy, and then the pullback that says, “That’s too good to be true. I must be making it up.” Fortunately, God works with all of it, and that mercy, or steadfast love.

I expect that you are generous with your talents and resources. Hopefully you understand that personal relationships are the most important relationship we have. God reminds us that how we love those HE places us amidst demonstrates our love for HIM. No doubt that you like I, have experienced genuine support from people we barely knew. I pray that you and I are spiritually mature enough to offer assistance to those who resent us as well as those who appreciate us. ‘If you love those who love you, what benefit is that to you? But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil. Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.’ [Luke 6:32, 35-36 ESV] my brother-in-Christ COL Mikel J. Burroughs.

I pray that each and every of YOUR adopted sons and daughters who reads or listens to this prayer are spiritually mature enough to offer service and support to our neighbors as well as our friends and family members. In this COVID risk season far too many are too aloof to offer assistance even to the needy and desperate. LORD motivate and guide each of us to be beacons of light in this darkening time. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. [Matthew 6:14-16 ESV]
I lift Christians, agnostics, members of minority faiths in Afghanistan, as well as citizens of other nations, Afghanis who assisted the allies [along with their family] who are in hiding or imprisoned by the Taliban thugs and their cohorts [ISIL and al-Qaeda] to YOU LORD. I pray that YOU shine light to those in hiding and guide them step by step to freedom and salvation for many of them. I pray that YOU blind the thugs so they see darkness and have no visibility of YOUR light. Enable each to sleep, rest and nourish themselves in peace amidst their enemies. ‘The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. [Psalm 23:1-5 ESV]
The LORD God is jealous for HIS own and HE protects us in ways we will never comprehend in this lifetime unless HE gives us eyes to see and ears to hear HIM. The women who went to the tomb of Christ mistook the risen LORD for the gardener – [Curator of the garden around the tombs.] LORD do a mighty work of pruning our ego/soul, tending the garden of our soul, and grafting us completely into the olive tree of life. By YOUR grace, YOU elected each of us be YOUR adopted sons and daughters. Many of YOUR chosen people rejected relationship with YOU. ‘For if God did not spare the natural branches, neither will he spare you. Note then the kindness and the severity of God: severity toward those who have fallen, but God’s kindness to you, provided you continue in his kindness. Otherwise, you too will be cut off. And even they, if they do not continue in their unbelief, will be grafted in, for God has the power to graft them in again. For if you were cut from what is by nature a wild olive tree, and grafted, contrary to nature, into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these, the natural branches, be grafted back into their own olive tree.’ [Romans 11:21-24 ESV]
I pray that you and I heed the admonition of the LORD on the on loving and supporting those around us.
a. Luke 6:32-36 ESV ‘If you love those who love you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. And if you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, to get back the same amount. But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil. Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.’
b. Matthew 5:43-45 ESV ‘You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
I pray that you and your family members slept well Sunday night and will awoke refreshed and healthy on Monday morning.
By the power and authority of the Name above all names, Jesus the Christ.
