Good morning Col Burroughs and posse. I suspect most of us felt joining the military was a risk worth taking. I know I did and I will be forever grateful.
Risk taking is necessary, but the possible gains and losses should be evaluated if possible. I find I am more willing to risk when it is me, than when I have a decision to make for others. However, if there is a good reason, I go forward and do it. We all have our risk taking strategies whether acknowledged or not. What is it that you weigh when you decide to "go for it"? Is it the likelihood of success or the chance of failure? Those come from two different perspectives.

There is risk in everything worthwhile. In Combat every operation is a risk on many fronts. Risk is our business for he who hesitates is lost!

In the military, we all took many risks because it is/was part of our daily lives. Anything could go wrong, but on the positive note, you could save some lives or help others get out of a big mess which is also a risk. I am a believer in predestined life, when our time is up, our time is up. As a paratrooper, every time I jumped, I would always say a prayer. My wife and I fly frequently, always go on road trips, without any worries. We are all exposed to risk, the key to overcome any worries is to leave them in God's hands, and do not live in fear because it is not healthy, mentally and physically.

I hope that you are calm in unexpected situations and help others to calm down and remain calm in stressful circumstances. No doubt you have taken many risks during your lifetime thus far. I pray that you and I do our best to count-the-cost prior to taking a risk, especially when others are involved. 'Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple. For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it'. [Luke 14:27-28 ESV] my sister-in-Christ Lt Col Charlie Brown.

LORD I pray that YOU bless each of YOUR adopted sons and daughters who reads or listens to this pray with discernment, eyes to see, and ears to hear YOUR voice. I pray you that I demonstrate moral courage when it comes to taking responsibility for our actions including risk-taking. 'But blessed are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear. 'For truly, I say to you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.' [Matthew 13:16-17 ESV]
I lift parents of school age children especially those weighing options for the coming school year. I pray YOU bless them with eyes to see and discernment as they evaluate the choices before them. ‘Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.’ [Proverbs 22:6 ESV]
I lift homeless families, homeless veterans, the severely disabled, the recently evicted and recently terminated from employment as well as well as each person who is a victim of somebody else or the government taking a risk, to YOU LORD. I pray LORD that You motivate trustworthy and compassionate individuals with great listening skills to contact and encourage those who are fearful about the future and those who are struggling with fear. ‘There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.’ [1 John 4:18-19 ESV]
Open the eyes of the Biden administration officials who are doing their best/worst to unleash critical race theory upon the school system. Do what it takes LORD to dissuade them from this foolish wickedness which is designed to divide instead of unify. ‘You spurn all who go astray from your statutes, for their cunning is in vain. All the wicked of the earth you discard like dross,’ [Psalm 119:118-119a ESV]
I pray for wisdom, discernment, compassion and mercy for the trustworthy and honest elected and appointed leaders, judges and magistrates throughout the USA, Canada, Mexico, UK, Ireland, Poland, Israel, India, Pakistan, Vietnam, Korea, Japan, Philippines, Australia and New Zealand. I pray that YOU motivate them to involve themselves in solving the serious issues facing their constituents with minimal risk to their constituents. I pray they commit themselves to unbiased support for constituents, unbiased justice, and an increase of graciousness. I pray that YOU prompt bureaucrats to listen to those who contact them in person or remotely. ‘Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight. [Proverbs 9:9-10 ESV].
I pray that you and your family members sleep well Monday night and will awake healthy on Tuesday morning.
By the power and authority of the Name above all names, Jesus the Christ.
