Thank you, my friend CW5 Jack Cardwell for alerting us. to the news that the USMC quest to be able to upgrade the capabilities of the MV-22 Osprey has been ostensibly answered by the Air-Launched Fast Autonomous Reconnaissance System, or AFARS.
"The air-launched drone has a maximum range of 165 nautical miles and a 100 nautical mile range with a 10 minute loiter time on station.
According to the Warfighting Lab, the AFARS system can maintain a line-of-sight data link capability within a 50 nautical mile radius, providing pilots potentially lifesaving intelligence of ground based threats miles before the crew reaches their target destination."
Hopefully the AFARS will be sufficient in meeting the requirement.
Thank you my friend TSgt Joe C. for mentioning me.
