Thanks for reminding us TSgt Joe C. that on April 7, 1963 Josip Broz AKA Tito was declared president for life of the newly named Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
He did a masterful job of maintaining independence of the USSR ad holding the radically different republics of Yugoslavia which erupted into violent civil war after his death.
In December, 1981 I took a train from Munich to Athens, Greece which passed through the gray and dismal Yugoslavia. My military ID served as my passport as the Yugoslav soldiers with AKM automatic weapons checked out the passengers. We passed through Sarajevo and my most striking memory was that the locals liked peanuts but couldn't stand the cans of Coke IO brought to drink.
