Ironic, when i posted (or tried to) post about a Navy SEAL representing the Guantanamo detained terrorist the feedback was that our system allows, or really demands a competent defense and people didn't think it was an issue, throw trump into the conversation and its wrong to defend some horrible group. I personally think the KKK and Terrorist belong in the same pile and should not be afforded the same rights both groups are deplorable.

The sad part is, people know he's not qualified, but refuse to talk about it seriously.

Ok PO1 Tony Holland. Slate typically is biased ....
"Brett Talley, the Alabama lawyer Donald Trump has nominated to be a federal district judge, is a 36-year-old ghosthunter who has never tried a case and who failed to disclose to the Senate that he is married to the chief of staff to the White House counsel. He also seems to have written 16,381 posts—more than 3½ per day—on the University of Alabama fan message board TideFans.com. As BuzzFeed has reported, a user who is almost certainly Talley posted for years under the handle BamainBoston. (BuzzFeed managed to identify him because BamainBoston wrote a message headlined “Washington Post Did A Feature On Me,” linking to a 2014 Ben Terris profile of Talley. BuzzFeed reported that a “Justice Department spokesman declined to comment on Talley's behalf.”)
Can anybody seriously wonder why a Federal Judge candidate would like to fly under the radar in the
current overheated political area that is Washington, DC.
[Update] The U.S. Constitution has very specific criteria for members of the House and Senate [Article I] and the President and Vice President [Article II] and very broad criteria for Federal judges:
Article III Section 1 "The judicial Power of the United States, shall be vested in one supreme Court, and in such inferior Courts as the Congress may from time to time ordain and establish. The Judges, both of the supreme and inferior Courts, shall hold their Offices during good Behaviour, and shall, at stated Times, receive for their Services, a Compensation, which shall not be diminished during their Continuance in Office."
Congress has established guidelines which change over time fro federal judges which tend to have litmus tests.

Slate does tend to lean left; however, in this case it makes no difference. You can read it most anywhere (even Wikipedia). The bottom line is he has no qualifications to be a federal judge (yes, he's a lawyer but they need more, agreed to by the ABA), and oh by the way, forgot to disclose his wife works at the WH.

Susan Foster - I edited my response to include the constitutional requirements for federal judges which are broad unlike the requirements for President, Vice President and members of House and Senate which include citizenship, age, etc.
Congress has established guidelines which change over time for federal judges which tend to have litmus tests.
Since Judge Bork was borked being nominated for a federal judicial position has become a blood sport. Justice Thomas was lied about in his confirmation hearings. Things have gone down-hill from there at times.
Do you really believe the Senate Judiciary Committee does not know who his wife is and that he didn't mention that during the run-up for nomination?

I have no idea if the committee knew or not. Several sources says he did not disclose (Business Insider, etc.) so don't let the fact that this is a Slate article sway you. I stand by my statement that someone who has never tried a case in court should not be a federal judge. I believe it takes experience. That's not even counting the open and devisive social media posts that sounds like he would not be a fair and impartial one. It’s ok to disagree. But I do agree with you on one thing: It has gone "downhill from there," and his nomination proves it to me. He's not the only unqualified person who has been nominated for a position, but I don't see any sense in exacerbating it further. I have no doubt there are hundred or even thousands of R's who are much more qualified than he is and would do a great job.
